Reverend R. C. Williams was the Pastor of two Churches, one named Lebanon Baptist and the other named Calvary Baptist. These two Churches merged together and became The New Lebanon Calvary Baptist Church. Due to Rev. Williams declining health, Reverend Dr. Joseph P. Stewart, a godly and wise man, became Pastor of this Church, in 1963.
Under the leadership of Reverend Dr. Joseph P. Stewart, membership began to grow and the Church began to prosper. Thanks to God Almighty. The Church purchased numerous properties in an effort to continue its stability and advancement. In 1980, the Church purchased a building located at 501 N. Milton Avenue, where Rev. Stewart preached until God called him home. Prior to Rev. Stewart's illness, he beckoned for Pastor Willie E. Quick, to come and assist him with the responsibilities of the Church and the work of the Lord. Pastor Quick accepted and served under the leadership of Rev. Stewart until Rev. Stewart's death. Once again, the Lord saw that another wise and anointed “man of God”, should take on the role and duties as Pastor of this Church. Therefore, in 1996, Pastor Willie E. Quick became the shepherd of this spirit filled Church, and has continued God's work, through His grace and mercy, ministering to the people of God, saving souls and proclaiming God's word.
Under the leadership of Pastor Quick, the New Lebanon Calvary Baptist Church has progressed tremendously, and kingdom building has continued to be an ongoing mission, an undertaking that delights the heart and minds of this shepherd and his sheep. Pastor Quick had a vision to upgrade and enhance the physical structure of this Church, because the Church was old and long-standing, and needed some repairs. As a result of Pastor Quick's concern about the safety and welfare of his congregation and all who entered into the house of the Lord, New Lebanon Calvary Baptist Church was beautifully renovated from the upper sanctuary to the lower dining hall. The audio and sound system was replaced to enhance the melodic praises from the pulpit, the choir, and the congregation. An elevator was installed to accommodate the elderly, handicapped, and disabled. As a special tribute to Pastor Quick, the children desired to have their choir named after him, the W. E. Quick Youth and Young Adult Choir (formerly known as the W. E. Quick Choral Ensemble). Numerous ministries have been instituted under Pastor Quick's leadership, such as the Angels of Serenity Dance Ministry, Women's Ministry, Daughters and Sons of Calvary, Pastor's Relations Ministry, Security Ministry, Juvenile Prison Ministry, New Members Ministry, Evangelistic Ministry, and the Mime Time Ministry. He has also been blessed with three very wise and obedient Ministers, who assist him in this Ministry of the Gospel.
Pastor Quick has a great and awesome vision for this Church, and he, along with his sheep, intends to fulfill the vision in which he has received and embraced from the Lord. His spirit of dedication has inspired a multitude of believers, and he continues to draw even more believers and non-believers, closer to Jesus Christ.
May God continue to bless Pastor Quick, First Lady Quick, the First Family, and the New Lebanon Calvary Baptist Church Family, as we all continue to serve the Lord in this mighty powerful and magnificent Ministry that we have been blessed to be a part of.
Hallelujah!!! Praise the Lord!!!
CONGRATULATIONS TO PASTOR WILLIE E. QUICK & THE NLCBC FAMILY ON 44 YEARS OF DEVOTED SERVICE TO THE LORD!!!
